Community Building

At LHI, we seek out and embrace opportunities to serve outside of ourselves year-round. Our dedication to community building starts with holding ourselves to a high standard for responsible corporate citizenship, and that includes making a generous commitment to local planned giving, perpetual dedication to community volunteerism, and—as possible—taking the initiative to identify and fill needs in our community and our world where they are unmet. These qualities are inherent to who we are as an organization; they are the values upon which we build the future of LHI, the futures of our employees and the future of our community.

Our dedication to philanthropy includes in-kind gifts, financial support and time to organizations and efforts too numerous to name here. Here is a sampling of our dedication to community building.

  • LHI plans, sponsors and hosts Freedom Fest, an annual event which raises money for scholarships for Veterans. Read more about Freedom Fest.
  • LHI is a United Way Pacesetter for their annual fundraising campaign. In 2010, we achieved 100% employee participation, totaling a contribution of more than $200,000.
  • LHI hosts an event known as Soup-A-Thon every year to benefit Children’s Miracle Network. In 2010, LHI presented CMN with a check for $12,000.
  • LHI is a long-time team sponsor and participant in Sand on the Riverfront. In 2010 and 2009, the LHI team claimed the top award, “Best on the Riverfront,” among other recognition for their efforts.
  • LHI’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life team ranked among the top three fundraisers for 2010, and won the award for “Most Enthusiastic.”
